Step 2: The Modem Comes Into Play

Due to patents and tech-monopilies, much of the modem technology we need comes from a proprietary doo-dad known as the Qualcomm 212. This modem can be purchased on Wish. If you cannot find an active listing on Wish, please also email me as otherwise you need to contact Qualcomm's sales channel directly with a bulk order. I have a few I can sell privately.

Here's what the modem should look like:

I'm linking a great PCB guide from MakerSpaces that details the basics of soldering. Be warned that because we are dealing with a smaller than usual hobbyist product you must use extra caution when soldering each connection.

Detailed Steps:

• All of the solder connections have been marked on my own boards and in the specs of my shared design. Link by color-code. Easy.
• Please use quality lead when you solder!
• Stay away from caffeine for at least 45 minutes before engaging in fine motor labor..
• You only need to make a total of three lead connections (one for power one-way and two for data both ways). You've got this!
